Who knew how much work this was?

I recognize that there are at least 3 pieces I need to work on in order to make this project effective.

First, I need to learn how to model better. I’m not used to taking outfit pictures, and I am clearly not in my comfort zone yet. I’m bookmarking this tutorial on A Beautiful Mess to give me some inspiration and ideas rather than me just standing around looking somewhat silly. I’m also thinking that I really like the idea of wearing some lip color.

Secondly, I need to work on taking pictures of everything. Last night I made a vegan version of this butternut squash and quinoa stew by not using chicken and subbing water for the chicken broth. I actually enjoyed it more than the version with chicken. I did take a lovely set-up shot with all my ingredients.

Lovely, and delicious looking, yes? However, I completely forgot to take a picture of the finished product. Whoops! It was good though, trust me. Next time I need to remember to take pictures of the WHOLE process. I am getting slightly more comfortable with my camera though, and that’s a huge improvement.

Last week I posted about my love of leggings, specifically those from Black Milk. As it happens, I have some on their way to me right now. This week, there was a fantastic post on the Too Many Tights! blog about leggings interventions. We Need to Have a Little Talk did a great job of explaining why it’s so easy to love buying from them.

Yesterday I thought I’d dress up a bit for work. I love this dress because there are so many colors in it that it looks completely different depending on how I accessorize. Excuse my posture, please reference “need to learn how to model” earlier.

Lastly, I really need to try to be better about actually posting. It’s a work in progress, yes?

Fresh produce, pulled pork, and learning to take pictures

One of my big projects this year is to take better pictures of the beautiful food we make and love. So, this week I bought From Pixel to Plate by Helene Dujardin, and I started taking pictures. I also finally got around to buying a tripod for my camera which I should have done months ago.

Yesterday we made pulled pork using an adaptation of this recipe. It was delicious, even if I can only eat about 3 bites worth.

And here is my series of Farmer’s Market produce for this week’s meals. I’m doing a lentil soup with the carrots, a stir fry with the asparagus and mushrooms, and tacos this evening that will be using the tomatoes.
